Welcome to this our inaugural edition of 3PL Links Online. You're receiving this newsletter because you have expressed an interest in our services, or have been doing business with us, or one of our partners for some time now. We hope this newsletter will help to inform you not only about how our industry works, but how it is changing, and how we can help you to achieve your logistics requirements in a cost effective and efficient manner.
With this issue, and every following installment of 3PL Links Online, we are going to talk about current trends affecting our industry and we'll fill you in on how we have helped our clients meet their specific logistics needs. As you will see, our clients are quite unique, each with their own particular industry idiosyncrasies. At 3PL Links we pride ourselves on adapting to client requirements, no matter how unusual. You may recognize similar challenges facing your particular industry. I hope this newsletter will prove to be a useful resource for you.

The State of Logistics Outsourcing.
In their 12th annual study on logistics outsourcing, Capgemini, a leading technology and outsourcing consulting company, illustrate some emerging trends and some useful observations on the state of the third party logistics industry. More than 1,500 senior supply chain executives from 61 countries participated in the survey. A common observation amongst all participants was that "Logistics represents a strategic, competitive advantage for our company."
The most revealing statistic is that among companies that do not outsource logistics, nearly half are considering outsourcing at least part of their operation in the future. The reasons for this are simple. The majority of respondents who do outsource report cost savings that average 13% after outsourcing. These are significant numbers.
